Lava Iris 870 review

Lava is a new entrant in the regional smartphone market and it recently announced the launch of the new Iris 870 smartphone. This one comes with a 5-inch HD screen along with 2.5D arc glass display technology. It also features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it. Moreover, under the hood, it runs the latest operating Android system - the Android v6.0 Marshmallow.
Priced at AED 449, the smartphone is being positioned at the mid-range sector. The smartphone has a good overall finish and build quality. The design is quite good, too. It runs on a Quad Core processor from Mediatek and features 2GB of RAM. It also offers 16GB of internal storage.
In terms of photography and videography, the phone comes with an 8-megapixel primary camera at the back of the device, while it also comes with a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies.
The battery compartment of the phone is removable. Once you open the battery compartment cover, you will see that the 2700mAh battery is fixed onto the body of the phone, and hence non-removable. You will also find the dual SIM slots over there, along with a microSD card slot which can be used to expand the storage capacity of the device.
We ran a bunch of tests on the device, including the AnTuTu benchmark and we clocked 21861 points on average. This kind of performance is quite typical for a mid-range device. In terms of battery life, we were able to get almost a day's worth on a single charge.
In conclusion, the Lava Iris 870 is a good mid-range device, with good build quality and an affordable price tag. The Lava Iris 870 can make for a good second phone, if you need one.
