Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 review

Xiaomi is a new entrant in the regional smartphone market and the company has
been launching new products quite often. The company recently announced the launch of the Redmi Note 3 smartphone on the market and it sent a review unit for a test drive at PCMag Labs.
The Redmi Note 3 is yest another budget smartphone that is available at an affordable price tag of AED 619. Though the price tag hits the sweet spot, the company does not skimp on specs included on the Redmi Note 3.
The smartphone runs on an hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. The built-in storage is further expandable to up to 128GB using a micro SD card.

This one's a 4G LTE smartphone that supports dual SIM - one nano and one micro SIM. In terms of camera, the phone comes with a 16MP rear and 5MP front camera for selfies. The Redmi Note 3 boasts a 5.5-inch Full-HD display fused in a unibody aluminium chassis.
The overall aluminium finishing gives the phone a premium feel. All the buttons on the phone are on the right edge of the device. On the left edge you will find a hybrid SIM card tray, which also allows a microSD card if the second SIM card slot isn’t in use. On the top is a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster and a secondary mic for noise cancellation. The IR blaster is a welcome addition - not many phones on the market carry it and definitely not at this price range.

At the bottom is the primary mic with a micro USB charging port. At the rear, as mentioned before, is the 16MP sensor with dual LED flash and a fingerprint scanner. In terms of performance, the phone scored a respectable 73252 points on the AnTuTu Benchmark.
The Redmi Note 3's camera also performs well. The camera app is snappy and simple to use. It has a handy HDR toggle button right near the shutter button which made the overall photography experience pure bliss. The smartphone can also shoot Full HD videos at 30fps, which delivers good results.
On the software side of things, the smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with MIUI 7 skin on top of it. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a huge 4,050mAh battery.
The device also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. On a normal usage including gaming, browsing the web and streaming YouTube videos, the phone still had 45 percent of battery left. The Xiaomi Redmi note 3 is a good mid-range device available at an affordable price of AED 619.
